Veneers in Jerusalem
What are porcelain laminate veneers?
Porcelain laminate veneers are thin shells made out of porcelain that are bonded onto the front surfaces of the teeth. Generally, this conservative dental procedure is not used for patients with broken down teeth, but for those who have staining, small fractures, discoloration, or deformed teeth that need improvement. We call the latter “Instant Orthodontics.” Much as you might glue Formica on a piece of wood, this very thin half millimeter “shell” produces an exquisite outcome.
Dental porcelain laminate veneers are one of the most aesthetic procedures that dentistry has to offer. Dr. Prenzlau had the good fortune of learning how to do these veneers in the 1980s, when Dr. Ronald Feinman from the Atlanta Dental Group, a pioneer and author of the first text devoted to veneers, came to Israel and taught a hands-on course at Hadassah University. This immediately became one of Dr. Prenzlau’s specialties, and he, along with his lab technician, have probably done the most veneers of any dentist in Jerusalem. He enjoys the procedure, and the wonderful results they have achieved for hundreds of patients. It is very conservative, and instantly changes the patient’s smile and self-image.
What Kind of Aftercare Should the Patient Be Aware Of After Receiving Veneers?
After the veneers are placed, patients should follow routine oral hygiene for brushing, flossing, and general checkups with the oral hygienist, to make sure that the conditions of the gums, and the plaque control are retained, or even improved. X-rays will also be taken on a routine basis to make sure that the bony support remains strong, and that there are no carious lesions (cavities) developing.
Why Should One Choose Dr. Prenzlau and The Oral Health Center for One’s Veneers Over Other Practitioners?
Dr. Prenzlau has always enjoyed and excelled at cosmetic dentistry. He is pleased with the ease of helping the patient to improve his or her smile, as well as enhancing their self-image and ability to proudly function in public.
When you recommend veneers to a patient, what are the alternatives?
If a patient’s tooth is broken down too much and there’s too much damage, the tooth should get a full cap or crown, as opposed to a veneer. If minimal changes are needed, there is nothing like a porcelain laminate veneer!
Is the procedure painful?
We use local anesthesia during the veneer procedure, so the patient will feel no discomfort. Following the procedure, we prescribe an oral rinse to improve gum tone and strength. There is generally little or no discomfort whatsoever.
How much does it cost to get veneers?
While a veneer is just a lamination over the front of a tooth, the lab procedure is as complex as fabricating a full crown and therefore, the cost of veneers is comparable to the cost of a cap or zirconium crown.
Who is a suitable candidate for veneers?
Veneers are a wonderful procedure for any age group. Our patients range from teenagers to young adults , and even for the senior population, if their teeth are still strong and not too badly broken down. Veneers make sense as a cosmetic dental solution if the patient’s teeth are only partially stained, fractured, or misaligned.
Additional information about veneers
Veneers are generally done in pairs and are added to two, four, six, or eight anterior teeth. This way, the color match blends well, and patients have a continuous smile design and shade. Veneers are exquisite, in that they are the most conservative life-changing procedure that dentistry has to offer.
