Bonding in Jerusalem

What is Bonding?

Bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure involving the application of a tooth-colored material to improve the appearance of teeth. Blending in with your existing tooth structure, this procedure can mask staining, slight fractures, and fillings, especially in the front area of your mouth.

Is there an alternative to bonding? What are the benefits?

Bonding is an effective solution for stained or discolored teeth and small chips and cracks anywhere in the mouth. This procedure can fix a small chip in your tooth and close an open space. Areas of bonding are undetectable and can hold up for years. They can always be repolished and reshaped. However, if you’re trying to address a larger area of a tooth, then a veneer or full crown is a better solution.

What is the procedure for bonding?

During the bonding procedure, we remove decay and stains and add a beautiful composite resin material to the affected teeth. If mechanical retention is required for reinforcement, that can also be done.

While this is a painless procedure, Novocain or local anesthetic can be used. Once this wears off, there is no discomfort. Usually, it’s a one or two visit appointment, depending on how many teeth need to be bonded. It can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. It can be multiple visits if there are a lot of surfaces that need to be bonded.

Is there any special care needed after bonding?

Aftercare for bonding teeth includes standard brushing, flossing, and keeping the area clean. Over the years, these composite resins can wear. They can also stain from heavy coffee, tea, coke, and red wine drinkers. We can repolish, refurbish, and reinforce them.

It’s important to note that certain areas of one’s jaw (usually the front of the mouth) are more susceptible to damage or breakage, so patients should avoid ice chips, chicken bones, jawbreakers, almonds, hard nuts and candies which put direct stress on the area of bonding.

What is the cost for bonding?

Bonding is a relatively inexpensive cosmetic dental procedure because it does not involve any type of laboratory intervention. This procedure can be taken care of quickly and a beautiful result can be accomplished painlessly and in a short period of time.

How long is the bonding procedure? Is it a single visit?

Depending on how many teeth need to be bonded, this can be accomplished over the course of one or two dental visits. If there are a lot of surfaces that need to be bonded, then it can entail multiple appointments. Usually a 30 minute appointment is all that is needed.

How does one know they are a suitable candidate for bonding?

When you come in for your general dental checkup, we will evaluate the area that could use improvement. We’ll examine how much decay needs to be cleaned out and corrected. If the surface area is small, then bonding is an appropriate solution. If it’s a larger area, then a veneer or crown may be needed. We will show you the difference in procedures during your appointment before proceeding to a course of action.

Has the bonding process evolved over the years?

Bonding has evolved into one of the most sought-after services in dentistry. The color matches are exquisite because there’s such a variety of different shades. The latest advance in bonding is a single color that has a chameleon-like effect and blends in with the color of the tooth exquisitely! At the Oral Health Center, we’re using these materials and they are unbelievable!
