General Dentistry in Jerusalem

What is General Dentistry?

General dentistry encompasses crowns, bridges, pit and fissure sealants, all types of white, tooth colored composite resin restorations, and bonding or fixing tooth fractures. At the Oral Health Center, we view oral hygiene and regular checkups as your insurance policy. We schedule your dental appointments biannually, quarterly, or annually depending on your periodontal condition (gums), number of fillings and restorations presently in your mouth.

What is the difference between general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry?

General dentistry focuses on the health of your mouth and cosmetic dentistry focuses on its appearance.

As part of our general dentistry practice at the Oral Health Center in Jerusalem, we take care of the broad spectrum of age groups. This includes the younger population just developing their permanent dentition, all the way through the geriatric population, helping them save all of their teeth. Dental services include routine checkups, x-rays as needed, along with hygienist care of teeth and gums. This is then followed by any fillings or bonding procedures the patient might need.

Our cosmetic dentistry practice focuses on the appearance of our patients’ teeth and includes more complex oral rehabilitation procedures such as full mouth reconstruction and advanced crown and bridge procedures.

Why should I choose the Oral Health Center for my general dentistry needs versus all the other general dentists in Jerusalem?

Thanks to the extensive training by Dr. Prenzlau and his colleagues /fellow dentists, the Oral Health Center delivers top-quality general dentistry and all types of cosmetic dental procedures such as bonding, fillings and routine care of the entire dental population.

What are the ages that the Oral Health Center treats for general dentistry?

At the Oral Health Center, we treat patients from 5-years-old through their teenage years, midlife, and the geriatric population. Of late, this has even included patients over the age of 100! (Ad Meah VeEsrim!) Later in life, our patients may experience severe breakdown of their teeth, requiring oral reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Is there pain or discomfort involved with general dentistry?

Patients at the Oral Health Center do not need to dread visits to the dentist.  Because we perform procedures with a local anesthetic (novacaine), our patients don’t feel any discomfort or pain. Laughing gas and oral sedation can easily be added as needed.

Does the Oral Health Center treat halitosis (bad breath)?

Treating halitosis (bad breath) falls under the category of oral hygiene instruction. The Oral Health Center hygienist is well versed in effective treatment options such as special oral rinses, tongue scrapers, and improved flossing and brushing techniques. Sometimes halitosis is unrelated to oral hygiene and is indicative of a more serious biological disorder brought on by stomach issues such as regurgitation. We have had great success improving halitosis with improved oral hygiene and the use of special oral rinses.

What are the associated patient costs of general dentistry?

By scheduling routine dental and hygiene checkups every three to fourth months and following our oral care instructions, you can keep your dental costs to a minimum and avoid expensive dental bills further down the line. It’s best to discover any problems at their initial stage. For example, a routine visit to the dentist could uncover a small cavity that we can easily repair. If you delay dental appointments for a long time, that small cavity can turn into a severe breakdown that can’t be fixed with a filling and instead needs a root canal, post and core buildup, and followed by a porcelain crown. More extensive dental intervention not only doubles but triples the cost, if not more. It’s advantageous for your health and budget to come in for routine check ups regularly.
